Adding a Bleed in Canva
What is a bleed anyway and why do I have to have it?
A bleed is print that goes beyond the edge of where the sheet will be trimmed. If you want color that goes edge to edge on the page you must have a bleed. The color will go past the trim marks and you’ll get edge to edge printing. Your at-hope printer won’t do this - but ours will.
Canva allows you to design your items with a bleed built in - no math necessary! The best way to make sure you design for edge to edge print in mind is to turn on the bleed option in Canva.
Start a New Design or Open An Existing Design
Click on File in the top Left Corner
Hover over settings, the next menu will appear.
Select show print bleed. Check mark will appear next to it.
The dotted line on your design is your bleed. If you have color you want to print edge to edge you need to have your elements going past the outer edge.
The best way to ensure other content on your design does print and is not too big is to add guides to provide you without boundaries to stay within.
